This tour combines an excellent overview of the states capital city and its scenic attractions with a delicious Salmon Bake at Gold Creek. Enjoy a guided tour through Juneaus picturesque downtown and past the capitol building on the way to mighty Mendenhall Glacier, a moving river of ice with rugged crevasses and a distinctive blue color that appears deceptively close because of its immense size. Stroll the walkways to the U.S. Forest Service Visitors Center and take in one of the glaciology exhibits, listen to an interpretive talk with a Forest Service Ranger, or simply enjoy the panoramic view of the glacier. Your tour ends with a great outdoor salmon bake at Gold Creek consisting of smoked salmon, chicken, and ribs, available with rice, salads, corn bread, and a selection of beverages. (Beer and wine are available for an additional charge.) You can view the Salmon Creek waterfall and the many other features of this great outdoor restaurant before returning to downtown Juneau or to your ship. Please Note: Guests on this tour will not be able to walk on the glacier. You will be staying across the lake at the Glacier Visitors Center, which offers spectacular views of the glacier face. Approximately 3 hours.
